The Best Book Ever

Well, we had the best movie ever so why not have a book? This is my top 10:

10. "False Dawn" (Przedswit) by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro - nothing special but there's something in the book I really liked. If you have a chance read it 'cause it's worth it.
09. "Jakub Wędrowycz" by Anrzej Pilipuk - crazy, funny, ironic. Jakub is the best as a character in a book but also as a egzorcist. If I ever meet a vampire, zobie or ghost I'll call him :).
08. "La Sombra del Viento" (Cień Wiatru) by Carlos Luiz Zafon - incredible book, there's everything you need: love, hate, murder, mystery. Wow!
07. "Joan of Arc" (Joanna d'Arc) by Mark Twain - one of my favourite writers and my favourite historical person. Perfect.
06. Andre Norton's books - whether you like her or not. I adore her works.
05. Patricia Cornwell's books - I don't like thrillers but she's an exception.
04. "La casa de los espíritus" (Dom Dusz) by Isabel Allende - magical and melancholical. Allende's best work.
03. "Carol" aka "The Price of Salt" (Carol) by Patricia Highsmith - the book that after finishing it I started to read all over again. I love it.
02. "Wiedźmin" by Andrzej Sapkowski - I'm addicted to it and you don't need to know more. Read it.
01. "Fried Green Toamtoes" (Smażone Zielone Pomidory) by Fannie Flagg - after the book I wanted to move back in the past to Whistle Stop and spend some time there with the people, whom I loved although they're not real.

A Bit of Johnny

The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash

And I heard as it were the noise of thunder
One of the four beasts saying come and see and I saw
And behold a white horse

There's a man going around taking names and he decides
Who to free and who to blame every body won't be treated
Quite the same there will be a golden ladder reaching down
When the man comes around

The hairs on your arm will stand up at the terror in each
Sip and each sup will you partake of that last offered cup
Or disappear into the potter's groundWhen the man comes around

CHORUS
Hear the trumpets hear the pipers one hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to a big kettledrum
Voices calling and voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
Its alpha and omegas kingdom come
And the whirlwind is in the thorn trees
The virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn trees
It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks
Till Armageddon no shalom no shalom
Then the father hen will call his chicken's home
The wise man will bow down before the thorn and at his feet
They will cast the golden crownsWhen the man comes around

Whoever is unjust let him be unjust still
Whoever is righteous let him be righteous still
Whoever is filthy let him be filthy stillListen to the words long written down
When the man comes around

CHORUS
Hear the trumpets hear the pipers one hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to a big kettledrum
Voices calling and voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
Its alpha and omegas kingdom come
And the whirlwind is in the thorn trees
The virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn trees
It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks
In measured hundred weight and penny pound
When the man comes around

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts
And I looked and behold, a pale horse
And it's name it said on him was Death
And Hell followed with him.

Delia's Gone by Johnny Cash

Delia, oh, Delia
Delia all my life
If I hadn't have shot poor Delia
I'd have had her for my wife
Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone

I went up to Memphis
And I met Delia there
Found her in her parlor
And I tied to her chair

Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone

She was low down and trifling
And she was cold and mean
Kind of evil make me want to
Grab my sub machine

Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone

First time I shot her
I shot her in the side
Hard to watch her suffer
But with the second shot she died

Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone

But jailer, oh, jailer
Jailer, I can't sleep '
Cause all around my bedside
I hear the patter of Delia's feet
Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone

So if you woman's devilish
You can let her run
Or you can bring her down and do her
Like Delia got done

Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone.

I adore Johnny Cash, especially those two songs. "The Man Comes Around" was used in "Dawn of the Dead" by Zack Snyder and I must say it fitted the movie very well. The armageddon has come :) and "Delia's Gone" is just incredibly ironic and, maybe it'll sound brutal, also funny. But that's Johnny Cash :)
Cheers.
